In Memoriam

Ray William Salo was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1934, of Finnish and Norwegian heritage. The family and company name 'Salo' is Finnish meaning 'wilderness area.'

Ray was first in his family to attend college. He earned a Bachelor's degree at Carleton College, where he was elected class president of 1956. He went on to earn a Master's degree from the University of Michigan.

Ray enjoyed a long career in the video production industry. Ray's career took him to New York City and later to San Francisco Bay Area, California. He was president and producer/writer/director of Salo Productions.

His video credits include tourism videos produced for the governments of Finland, Iceland, Germany, Canada and other destinations.

As a hobby Ray was an author who completed five books. One is currently available at Amazon.com.

Ray married in 1965, had three children, and later divorced. He passed away in Sacramento, California in 2018.
